To mark turning 50 this year I am doing three challenges in the hope of raising lots of funds for the wonderful Hillside Animal Sanctuary.  I am very excited to have a place in the London Marathon on Sunday 24th April.  It is several years since I last ran a marathon properly, I am training hard & will do my very best to complete the marathon in a reasonable time for a middle aged lady. 

Then on August 13th I will be setting off on my bicycle for a 1,500 mile cycle ride via the three highest mountains in the UK to do my own version of the classic ‘Three Peaks Challenge’.  Once more this will be a solo adventure; I’ll be taking my bivi bag & lightweight tent with me and will sleep wherever I can find a suitable spot to lay my head.   

I will aim for Wales & Snowdon first, then I will cycle onto the Lake District to tackle Scafell Pike and finally I will pedal onto Scotland & the mighty Ben Nevis.  I am planning to climb and sleep in my bivi bag on the summit of all three peaks, my dream is to wake up on the morning of my 50th Birthday on top of Ben Nevis.  Afterwards it will be a speedy 600 mile cycle ride back home to Norfolk for a weeks rest before I put on my running shoes again to take part in the Great North Run on 11th September.

 Anyone who knows me will be aware of my love of animals and my concern for their welfare.  It would mean so much to me to mark my 50th year by raising as much money as possible for Hillside Animal Sanctuary where they do amazing work to help, rescue and care for animals in need.  I self fund all my challenges/adventures (by keeping them cheap & simple) so EVERY penny raised will go straight to Hillside.
