Jo was born in Doncaster and moved to Loughborough at an early age with her parents, two brothers and the family dog Penny.
She attended Loughborough High School and went on to work for Government Communications at Beaumanor Hall, Woodhouse Eaves and then to GCHQ at Cheltenham.
Jo married John in November 1958 in Loughborough Parish Church and over the years moved to Costock, Wysall and 40 years ago to keyworth. They had five children Mandy, Sara, Jo, James and Marcus and six grandchildren Charlotte, Georgia, Jacob, Annabel, Sophie and Daniel. All have inherited Jo's love of animals.
Jo and John have visited Norfolk since the early 60's accompanied by the children and many dogs over the years. The current dog is Tilly who mum loved and was given mums childhood nickname.
The Shire Horse Centre, now Hillside Shire Sanctuary has always been a happy and essential place for the family to visit and it will continue to be so.
Jo was an incredibly loving wife, mother and grandma and she will be greatly missed by us all.
If you would like to make a donation in Jo's memory, you may do so here. Hillside are very grateful for any donations received.
