Vera grew up in WW2 and said of that time “we didn’t know if we were going to survive, so we made the most of every day”. For her, this live-in-the-moment experience added to her easy-going, welcoming and generous spirit. Optimistic and deeply thoughtful, Vera was always willing to help others, and on visiting Hillside with her husband William (Bill) during one of the many caravan holidays they took, she decided to sponsor William, the shire horse with the same name as her husband! She loved animals in general and was happy to make a monthly contribution to Hillside’s excellent work.
