The Bean died at the age of 65 in Feb 2026 and will be much missed by those who knew him and his quirky sense of humour.

Always an animal lover, his childhood pets included Snowball, a white rabbit, and Prince, a mongrel. A supporter of animal rights, anti-hunting and anti-vivisection charities since the early Eighties, he then became vegetarian for life when he realised the cruelties involved in farming animals for food. 

He visited Hillside's Open Days and particularly enjoyed seeing the horses. We know donating to this small charity will make a big difference to them and the many animals in their care. It would be lovely if you could make a contribution, however small, in his memory. Thank you.
