In Loving memory of Ron Collins
12th May 1938 - 14th July 2025

Ron lived in Old Costessey, near Norwich, with his wife Rosie and worked tirelessly for animals over many decades of his life. He initially got involved rescuing swans who at that time were being poisoned with lead from fishing weights and lead shot. Ron was part of the group that lobbied to end its use. He then went on to establish a small wildlife sanctuary in his garden, learning how to administer treatments, undertaking rescues and caring for those no longer able to survive in the wild. Driven by kindness and compassion, he and Rosie made a difference to hundreds of individual creatures that were brought to their door. And together they helped support numerous animal charities, including Hillside.

Ron's whole ethos shone much needed light into often very dark places and everyone who knew him was uplifted by his friendship and generosity of spirit. He will be much missed by all his friends, and especially those whose lives he touched working in animal rights and welfare.
You are invited to carry on his legacy by making a donation in his memory.
