Jan Symonds was born in Leytonstone on 23^rd January 1947 and died in Pont ivy, France on 17^th September 2025. She was married for 55 years and had 4 children and 6 grandchildren. Her family meant everything to her. After her children left home she qualified as an archaeologist appearing several times on the TV programme Time Team. In later years she retired to her home in Brittany, France that she had renovated so beautifully.

She demonstrated a lifetime of compassion for those she considered less fortunate. She loved animals and was introduced to the Hillside Animal Sanctuary by her stepmother Anne Low visiting on several occasions. Whilst living in France, she took every opportunity to support the charity she loved.
