In Loving Memory of Jan Salmon

Description

Jan - loving, caring, considerate, yet brave and courageous. You were always there for me, my guiding light and mentor. We went everywhere together, did everything together and I will miss you more than words can say. A stalwart for the animals, you were not afraid to go on protest marches or to stand up and be counted. A lover of animals, notably foxes, having cared for orphaned and injured fox cubs which were so innocent and pure of heart, and nursing them until they were well enough or old enough to be released into the wild.

A wonderful mother and amazing, supportive wife. You had had a hard life, having lost your father at the age of two, then enduring type 1 diabetes from the age of twelve and in later years a lung condition, but you never complained and always put a brave face on them.

It has been a privilege to know you, and an honour to be your husband. The adversity under which you lived and the severe life challenges you endured including the loss of our beautiful daughter gave you a very special depth of character. One must experience the dark in order to appreciate the light, cruelty in order to appreciate love, and evil in order to appreciate purity and beauty.

You were the type who noticed such things as sunsets, the dawn, mountains, clouds, valleys, trees and wildflowers.

Neither you nor I were religious, but I believe and I hope that you did too, that we are a spirit having a physical experience.

I love you Jan, I always will, and so I bid you farewell. You will always be in my prayers, thoughts and fond memories. Until we meet again in the next life, all my love, for ever, David.

Jan was a member of four other animal charities in addition to Hillside. Passionately against all forms of hunting and animal testing such as the LD50 test. She thought the world of Hillside Animal Sanctuary; we visited and stayed there a couple of times. Jan was a credit to our world who will be missed more than words can say.

If you would like to make a donation in Jan's memory, you may do so here.  Hillside are very grateful for any donations received.

You are also welcome to ring the Sanctuary office on 01603 736200 to make a donation.

Thank you...
