Dear Friend and Kind Supporter of the Animals...
I am writing to ask for your help at a very difficult time for Hillside Animal Sanctuary. Whilst warmer weather and sunny times are gradually making an appearance, here at the sanctuary, we are struggling to make ends meet after another long and challenging winter with funds now running critically low. Bridging the gap between winter and spring has always been an exceptionally tricky time because of the huge winter feed bills which use up almost all of our regular income. This year the problem has been compounded by the massively increased cost of everything, from electricity and fuel to veterinary costs and much larger than usual feed bills.
I am sure everyone reading this will know just how much things have gone up in price and, despite being constantly vigilant about non-waste and getting best value for money, we've reached the point where the figures simply no longer add up. We understand everyone is feeling the effects of the ‘cost of living crisis’, here at Hillside, as we receive ever more requests to take in unwanted animals, we are struggling with a double whammy, not only the cost of living but also ‘the cost of giving’. In giving over 4,000 rescued animals a safe and natural home for the rest of their lives we have taken on the huge responsibility of keeping them fed and cared for. We are quite literally giving out endless love and kindness to those who would otherwise have nowhere to go.
Thankfully we have never been alone in our wish to make better the lives of those we care for and therefore at this exceptionally difficult time we can only appeal to our large family of supporters and animal lovers for help. We are extremely optimistic that we will get over this ‘bump’ and with summer not far away our feed bills will naturally and gradually reduce once more. With your help we will be able to continue to care for all of our animals and look forward to sunnier times ahead. Any amount you can give, however small, will be hugely appreciated and will help the Sanctuary through these unprecedented times. Thank you for caring,
